    Fred: May I suggest that you have a look at ClarityAccounting.com – this is an entry-level SAAS accounting app from Vancouver. Simple, easy to use and reasonably priced.

    I havn’t tried it, but have you compared to Nolapro?
    Nolapro is -
    Offered as a SAAS, similar to Clarity accounting (price is slightly more if you go this route)
    Has a free version which can be installed in-house, and is platform independent (in this case cost = 0)
    Built on an open source stack with a good API (for integrating with other applications)
    Has a pretty active community/ecosystem around it for sharing info (check out their forum)
    Seems to have a lot more features than Clarity accounting, if you compare them (Of course, you have to consider requirements)
    You can host it if you are a consultant or accountant, and even private brand it if you are so inclined
    But I’ll admit their web site isn’t as pretty
